Art Therapy
Art therapy is a form of counseling that uses the creative process to support emotional expression, self-understanding, and healing. You do not need to be “good at art” to engage in art therapy —art therapy is about the process, not the finished product. You might hear me say process over product a lot!
Through the guided use of materials such as drawing, painting, collage, or mixed media, art therapy can help you express thoughts and feelings that may be difficult to put into words. Creating in a supportive, therapeutic space can foster insight, reduce stress, and deepen awareness of your inner experiences.
Art therapy is often helpful for navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, and relationship challenges. It can also support self-esteem, emotional regulation, and personal growth. Sessions are tailored to you, meeting you where you are and honoring your pace, comfort level, and goals.
Whether you feel stuck, overwhelmed, or simply curious about exploring yourself in a new way, art therapy offers a gentle, creative pathway toward understanding and healing.
I am a registered art therapist (ATR) through the Art Therapy Credentials Board which is a national organization with a mission to “protect the public by establishing and upholding the highest standards for competent practice of art therapy through the credentialing and certification process” (ATCB Website).
